A year in Ning

Welcome to 2008

Well I know that January is usually a slow month, but it seems like a year has passed since we were in 2007. Nearly time for classes to start again - just one more day left for me to sleep in!

My first week in Ning

My new class of ten stage 1 stonemasonry student apprentices started on Monday, the first group that I'm trialling in Ning. I decided to use Ning as a social network in a learning context because it's easy to use and (professionally) a step up from MySpace and FaceBook.

All students were enrolled in TAFE the previous week to avoid Internet access delay (students have to wait 24 hours after enrolling before they can log in to the student network).

NODE101 Videoblogging project

Stonemasonry network

Well I've finally sorted out how to set up another network. I wanted to have a site so I can get my students using communication tools here. I created another entity for myself and the network belongs to it. I gave it STOMAS as a URL because it is sort of like an alternative portal (try not to think about it) also because it sounds a bit like... stomas.ning (lose the dot)
